Friday, 13 December 2024 – As part of its December Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Darussalam Pilotage Services (DPS) Sdn Bhd successfully organised a Marine Safety Awareness Day at the DPS office in Serasa.

The event was attended by 25 participants and reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting safety awareness, community engagement, and responsible maritime practices within Brunei Darussalam’s maritime sector.

The programme was designed to foster a stronger culture of safety at sea by educating participants on the importance of protecting lives, understanding marine safety responsibilities, and ensuring the well-being of the maritime community.

Through informative sessions and practical discussions, attendees gained valuable insights into essential safety principles and the role of preparedness in preventing maritime incidents.

The event highlighted the importance of adopting safe operational practices, maintaining awareness of potential marine hazards, and understanding emergency response procedures. Participants were introduced to key aspects of maritime safety, including personal responsibility, communication, and compliance with safety regulations to support safer maritime activities.

As part of the programme, DPS also introduced the Class 9 (Restricted) Training Course, providing information for individuals interested in obtaining a Class 9 (Restricted) licence for motorboat operators.

The session offered participants an overview of the course structure, licensing requirements, and the importance of competency and certification for safe vessel operation.

The introduction of the training course reflects DPS’s broader commitment to supporting maritime education and enhancing competency standards within the industry. By providing access to accredited maritime training opportunities, DPS aims to contribute towards developing skilled and responsible boat operators while promoting safer navigation practices in Brunei waters.
